How we repair a damaged slab
- Inspect the slab on site to assess the cause and extent of the damage.
- Remove loose, drummy and delaminated material back to sound concrete.
- Clean and prepare the repair area so the repair can genuinely bond.
- Repair cracks, pits, spalling and chipped edges with a suitable repair system.
- Level the repair flush with the surrounding slab, allow proper curing, and check the result before handover.
A lasting repair is mostly preparation. Loose, drummy and delaminated material is removed until only sound concrete remains, the area is cleaned and prepared so the repair can genuinely bond, and cracks are opened or cut back to a clean profile instead of being skimmed over. Pits, spalled sections and chipped edges are then rebuilt with a suitable repair system, levelled flush with the surrounding surface and given proper curing time before the area goes back into service. The finished repair is checked against the rest of the slab before handover. Matching the surrounding slab
We are upfront about how a repair will look. Every repair is levelled and blended as neatly as possible, but on bare concrete a patch will usually read as a slightly different tone to the original pour - that is normal, and we will tell you what to expect before we start. If a uniform appearance matters, the repair can disappear under a finish applied across the whole area, such as Grind & Seal indoors or Driveway Resurfacing outdoors. Suitability of any repair or finish is always confirmed after the on-site assessment.

Can cracked concrete be repaired, or does the slab need replacing?
Most cracked concrete can be repaired. We inspect the cause and extent of the cracking on site first - if the slab is fundamentally sound, a repair is usually the sensible option. If replacement is genuinely the better answer, we will tell you.
What causes pits and spalling on Melbourne concrete?
